I think that most all of us would agree that chocolate is a good thing would we not? Well, being a diabetic sort of complicate things for the person who loves this food item. I it was especially tough for me to make the change. Anyways, over the years I have found a few easy diabetic chocolate desserts that work with my diabetes nutrition plan. Now some of these are recipes and the others are just items that can be purchased at any local store. I like to consume sugar free stuff when I need a chocolate fix, however, I always monitor the carbs as well. Sugar free fudge sickles or fudge pops as some people call them are really cheap. I have seen them for as low as two boxes of 24 for five bucks. That is a great deal if you ask me. Another sugar free treat that I like is jello or jello temptations chocolate mousse.
From there on the pickings are sort of slim. Yea sure, there are sugar free Oreo cookies and Carb Smart brand ice cream, but is there anything unique?
Well, if you are driven and want to spend the extra time talking to your doctor and searching, you may be able to find some unique recipes that work for your diabetes. You may have also noticed that some chocolate brands also have sugar free versions of their most popular products. Another thing to think about is that when some product says no sugar added, that does not necessarily mean that it is “sugar free.” Anyways, coffee drinkers will love this one. International cafĂ© makes a sugar free hot chocolate powder mix that can be added with water or milk. It’s tasty, but may have a decent amount of carbohydrates.
