3 Easy Diabetic Treat Recipes

After all these years it seems that the answers to some of the hardest equations were a lot closer than expected. For people with diabetes that desire to find something sweet for their taste buds, this can be a bit complicated. The most ironic fact about all of this is that the answers are quite simple. It all starts with a great foundation. Yep, it is always better to build up knowledge from the ground up. Starting from ground zero has definitely made the journey for finding healthy diabetic desserts easier for me. A friend recommended this age old idea to me a while back and I have thanked him ever since. I learned about how certain foods affected my body know that I had diabetes and therefore learned why some foods were recommended while others were not. It sounds really cheesy, but it actually works. The simple fact about it is that most people want an answer other than this. After learning about sugars and carbohydrates, it was easy as pie to discover great tasting desserts that fit my meal plan.

The first great dessert idea was actually not mine. Going through the store the other day, I was craving some hot cocoa and actually lucked out. There is now a sugar free brand of hot chocolate that works with my diabetes. I top it off with a dollop of sugar free/fat free whipped topping and it is hard to beat. A treat recipe like that is not only hard to beat any day of the year, but during the winter – it’s pure liquid gold on a cold day. Another easy diabetic recipe that has been popular with me over the years involves sugar free pudding. You see, I get a little chocolate craving ever once in a while. Now, I know that sugar/fat free chocolate pudding doesn’t sound that tasty, but it does. I can tell little difference and actually think that it tastes better than the real thing. Again, I add a little sugar/fat free whipped topping and a delicious easy diabetic dessert is ready for my eager taste buds. Can anyone guess where my next healthy treat recipe is going? Gelatin is yet another popular dessert item that has been produced in sugar free versions. I love a bowl cool, perfectly squared sugar free gelatin on a hot day or any day for that matter. It tastes good with whipped topping as well.
