Tasty Mocha or French Vanilla Dessert

Just the other day yours truly poked his nose outside and fount that old man winter finally woke up. Yep, the weather is starting to turn cold and it is time to break out the collection of winter wear. Cold weather is really enjoyable for a number of reasons, but one of the main ones for me involves drinking warm drinks. The number one drink to enjoy during a cold day for most people is more than likely hot chocolate. However, being a diabetic, I steer clear of the hot chocolate. With that said, I did find a way to make some hot chocolate. I use skim milk or one percent, add some cocoa powder, mix in some splenda, warm it up, and it tastes great. Making this version of hot chocolate takes a little more effort, but it tastes pretty good to me. However that was not the main point of this post. I really wanted to talk about some of the new coffee products that I found the other day.


As it turns out, the sugar free craze is starting to catch on. Naturally, as the population of diabetic people grows, more and more sugar free products are being produced. Coffee is good and all, but not all people like the old, plain dark roast. Mocha sounds a little better doesn’t it? I sure think so. In the coffee section in most grocery stores is a section of mochas and some others coffee mixes. Mixed in the lot are a few sugar free powders. Tried one of them out the other day and was really satisfied. I know that it may not sound like a tasty treat, but it is warm and good. However, there is one thing that I don’t like. The price on these little mocha mixes is really high for the amount of product inside the box. Most of the name brand mocha mixes are priced around three dollars. There are not and off brands that are cheaper that I have found so far. However, these days everything located in grocery stores is around three to four dollars. Another note to mention is that there is another taste that I discovered as well. The other sugar free mix was French vanilla, a very popular flavor. I know many of you are rolling the old eye balls because this sounds so boring, but being someone with type two diabetes and having tasty, easy diabetic desserts is not as easy as it sounds. There are a lot of tempting foods out there that I have had to try so hard to avoid. Anyways, it is all of the better. I hope that you all enjoy the season and life as well.
